What Are CooperVision MiSight 1 Day Lenses?
MiSight 1 day are daily disposable contact lenses built around a dual focus design. Each lens has two correction zones and two treatment zones arranged in alternating rings. The correction zones address your child's prescription and deliver the same sharp vision correction as any standard daily disposable contact lens. The treatment zones create myopic defocus across the peripheral retina, which signals myopic eyes to slow their elongation.

Standard single vision contact lenses correct blurry vision but do nothing about eye growth. In children with myopia, the eyeball continues to grow longer year on year, which is what pushes the prescription higher and raises the long-term risk of conditions such as retinal detachment, glaucoma and cataract in adulthood. MiSight lenses address both. The child sees clearly, and the eye receives an active signal to slow its growth at the same time.

The Evidence Behind MiSight
The clinical case for MiSight 1 day is built on the longest soft contact lens myopia control study ever conducted. In a six-year multicenter randomised clinical trial published in Optometry and Vision Science, children wearing dual focus contact lenses experienced 59% slower myopia progression compared to those in single vision contact lenses over the first three years, with axial elongation reduced by 52% over the same period.
Notably, faster-growing myopic eyes respond with a proportionally greater reduction in progression, which makes MiSight particularly relevant for children with rapid myopia progression.
Modelling age effects across the full trial dataset, Arumugam B et al. confirmed that 90% of myopic eyes respond to MiSight treatment across ages 8 to 15, and that the slowing effect on lenses on myopia progression is sustained regardless of when treatment begins.
When children stopped wearing dual focus contact lenses after the trial, eye growth reverted to age-normal rates with no rebound, meaning accumulated myopia control benefits were fully retained.

MiSight 1 day lenses are for myopic children aged 8 and above whose prescription is changing year on year. They are particularly well suited to children who are comfortable wearing contact lenses, or whose parents want a myopia control option that does not involve glasses.
